Secret Garden

Dress, Earrings, Shoes, and Purse: Nasty Gal

One of my favorite places to visit back home in Maryland is Brookside Gardens. It's a beautiful oasis of flowers and greenery with pathways to walk and observe. I came here to shoot this classic white ribbed asymmetrical dress from Nasty Gal. Unfortunately, the flowers were not as fully bloomed as they would be in the Spring. I typically get nervous about wearing white because of how easily it gets dirty. However, I love the cleanliness of an all white look.

Simply A Muse

Crossback Jumpsuit: American Apparel

Last week I traveled back to my hometown of Maryland and collaborated with fellow local blogger and photographer Ann Wynn. We connected through Instagram and I was an admirer of her style and photos so I was pretty excited to work with her. I met with her at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and she took these amazing images of me. This museum is quite inspiring and made me appreciate the city's architecture. The geometrical details of the building's construction were intricate, yet minimal. There was beauty in the simplicity of the design. It reinforced the rule of thumb that less is sometimes more.

If there is any rule that I use when it comes to styling, it is "when it doubt, keep it simple." Less can definitely be more when putting a look together. Do not get me wrong, I appreciate an outfit that speaks volumes with details. However, you can still make a strong statement with simplicity.  I chose to do just that with this look and wore little to no accessories. My love for jumpsuits still goes strong, and this jumpsuit is the perfect "day to night" piece. The wide leg is a different silhouette for me that I wanted to try. It also has a cross back strapping detail that I unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to show.

Got Milk?

Dress: American Apparel, Purse: Topshop (not sold online, see other purses here!)

Sorry for the delayed post!

One of the things I do appreciate about Los Angeles is how scenic it is. I drove past this abandoned bleached white building one day on Sunset Blvd. and it immediately caught my eye. Later, I learned that this building, also known as the "Bates Motel," was a live art installation by French artist Vincent Lamouroux. Now it has become one of the most popular attractions in the Silverlake area and served as the perfect backdrop for this outfit.

I experimented with the color story of this look and combined lighter hues with a brighter shade. This dress is great for the summer because it is comfortable and colorful. Statement accessories are great to jazz up any simple look, whether it be just jeans and a t-shirt or a plain frock. I love finding unique pieces that I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. I paired this dress with one of my favorite finds so far this season. This particular purse caught my eye for it's whimsical silhouette.  A milk carton purse? How creative!
